Clove And Cinnamon Cake

Ingredients
For The Cake
- 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour Sifted
- ½ Tsp Salt
- 4 Tsp Baking Powder
- ½ Tsp Ground Cloves
- 1` Tsp Ceylon Cinnamon Powder
- 1 Cup Shortening
- 1½ Cups Sugar
- 3 Large Eggs
- 1¼ Cups Milk
For The Spiced Butter Frosting
- 1½ Cups Unsalted Butter
- 5 Cups Icing Sugar
- 1 Tsp Ceylon Cinnamon Powder
- 1 Tsp Nutmeg Powder
Instructions
For The Cake
- Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C / Gas mark 5
- Sift the flour, baking powder and salt
- Mix the ground cloves, cinnamon powder and the shortening
- Add sugar and beat gradually
- Beat in the eggs one at a time
- Add milk and flour
- Beat for about 25 seconds
- Transfer it into a greased tray
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean
- Cool it for about 10 minutes and turn out onto a wire rack.
Spiced Buttercream Frosting
- Beat the butter
- Continue beating by adding the icing sugar little by little
- Add the cinnamon powder and nutmeg powder
- Beat on low speed
- Continue to beat until the frosting is smooth and creamy
- Now apply the frosting on the cake.
